Daily deal - Flip Ultra series 30 minute digital camcorder - $50 from Dell.com

(Update, looks like the deal is dead already, sorry about that!)

My daily deal for today is for the Flip Ultra series digital camcorder. This digital camcorder features a built in flash memory card for up to 30 minutes of video. Once you are done recording, the small flip-out USB connector allows you to instantly transfer the recordings to your computer.

The Flip Ultra has a 1.5" color screen, a 2x digital zoom and an output for displaying your movies on TV, a video cable is included in the package. The Flip camera is perfect for short video clips on your trip, as it runs off regular AA batteries and is very durable.

If you enjoy underwater activities, then you'll love the Flip underwater case which can be found on Amazon for under $30 (check the "other" vendors listed on the right side of the Amazon page). The combination of the Flip camera and the underwater case make this the cheapest underwater video camera available on the market.

This camera normally retails for $149, but if you order it from Dell.com, you'll get an instant $50 off, plus an additional $50 instant rebate, bringing the price down to just $50. To make the deal even better, you'll even get free ground shipping!

To get the additional $50 off, you will need to enter coupon code KGJQ72S6F0H828 on the checkout page. The coupon code should be valid till September 3rd, but Dell often ends promotions early so don't wait around too long.

Daily deal - Streamlight 3C xenon flashlight - $12.76 from Amazon

My daily deal for today is for the Streamlight 3C flashlight. Streamlight have long been one of the number one rated flashlight makers, and are very popular with outdoors fans, and professionals. Many rescue services also depend on Streamlight for their flashlights.

This new model from the Streamlight lineup is powered by 3 C alkaline batteries, and has a xenon gas filled lamp, capable of producing 50 lumens for up to five and a half hours.

The lamp is made from propolymer, making it virtually indestructible, and it is approved for use in hazardous situations (check the Amazon listing for the type approvals). If you want to read more about the manufacturer, then check out the product link on the Streamlight site.

The Streamlight 3C usually retails for around $35, but Amazon currently lists it for just $12.76. You'll have to order over $25 to reach the Amazon free shipping threshold.

Daily deal - Panasonic Palmcorder mini-DVD camcorder for $180

My daily deal for today is for the Panasonic VDR-D210 Palmcorder miniDVD camcorder. This camera has a 2.7" flip-out LCD screen with a joystick for operating the camera functions. The optics are equally impressive. 32x optical zoom, and the well rated Panasonic optical image stabilization.

The VDR-D210 is still listed on Amazon for $339, but you can purchase it from Circuit City (online only) for just $179.96. Included in the box is the camera, a battery with recharger and the user manual. Shipping is free, and tax is charged in all states with a Circuit City physical store.

In order to use the camera, you will have to purchase some mini DVD discs. Recordings can be written on DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-Dual layer. Once you are done recording, you can playback the discs in your home DVD player (if it supports mini DVD discs).

The camera is in the Circuit City outlet, so inventory may be running low. If you are interested in the camera, don't wait too long, as it probably won't last till the end of the day.

Daily deal - 6 piece luggage set for $40

My daily deal for today is another of those great Woot! sales. Their one day offering for Sunday is a 6 piece "mediocre" (their words, not mine) Beverly Hills Polo Club luggage set.

Included in the set are the following pieces of luggage:

  • 21" Upright
  • 24" Upright
  • 27" Expandable Upright
  • 15" Tote
  • Garment Bag
  • Toiletry Kit
The bags are available in black, brown, navy or red. I suggest picking a color that will "stand out", so you don't become just another one of the thousands of bags coming down the luggage carousel. The bags are made of "lightweight aerospace material and high-density polyester fabric" and you get a 90 day limited warranty. As with all Woot deals, shipping is just $5.

With these bags, you should have enough storage space for a family of 3 or 4 (for their stuff, not for putting them in the bag!). As always with a deal through Woot!, once the inventory is gone, so is the deal. If you are looking for some cheap luggage, don't delay, or you might miss it!

Daily deal - Dash Express connected GPS unit for $249

My daily deal for today is yet another GPS unit. However, the Dash Express connected GPS device is different than any other unit I've ever mentioned here on Gadling.

Inside the Dash Express is essentially a mobile phone, and with this, you are always connected to the Internet (as long as you are within coverage).

By being connected, the Dash Express constantly receives updates about traffic on your route. It receives this information from a variety of sources, including fellow Dash Express users. This feature makes the Dash Express the only GPS unit on the market that can report traffic on ALL roads, not just the major highways.

In addition to traffic information, the Dash Express also has an online search feature (through Yahoo), plus you can send an address from your computer directly to your car (Imagine not having to write down addresses before you leave!). The unit also has access to real-time local gas prices and movie times.

In addition to the connected services, you also get text-to-speech for spoken commands, 3D map views, a theft deterrent option and an automatic day/night screen setting.

The Dash express launched earlier this year for $399, but has now dropped to an extremely reasonable $249. There is of course one caveat; you will need a monthly subscription in order to use the online features. Subscribing is optional, but without the connected Dash services, the device is just another GPS unit. Subscriptions start a $12.99, and drop to $9.99 when you pre-pay for 2 years.

The Dash Express is on sale at Amazon.com, and ships for free.

Daily deal - REI Super Summer clearance - up to 50% off online and in-store

Outdoors fans, pay attention! REI is holding its yearly super Summer clearance, with 50% off 100's of items. You'll find $10 North Face shorts as well as some discounts on "high tech" products, like this $4 memory card pouch.

The sale starts today, and lasts until Labor day (September 1st). If you are not a fan of online shopping, or simply prefer to browse the racks for your bargains, then head on over to your local REI store, as many of these bargains can be found at their retail locations too. In total, over 500 products are on sale, so there really should be something for everyone.

Be on the lookout for prices ending with the magic .83 number, as those will be the sale items. And just to avoid confusion; the prices are "as marked", there are no further discounts.

Of course, since this is a summer discount, most of the fashion on sale is being discounted to make way for winter gear, but unless you plan to gain a few sizes by next year, it should be a cheap way to get your gear purchased for next years trip.

Daily deal - Apple 8GB iPod Touch for $199 (refurbished)

My daily deal for today is for a great way to save almost $100 on the popular Apple iPod Touch. This version has 8GB of storage, which is enough for up to 1750 songs, but you can also load photos and movies on the device.

In addition to being a "normal" iPod, the iPod touch also has a web browser and email program, which makes it perfect for using on your next flight, if it happens to come with wireless Internet access!

With the new Apple "App store", you will even be able to download applications to the device, including several very handy travel programs. To get these new features, you will have to spend an additional $9.95 for the iPod touch software upgrade.

The iPod has been refurbished by Apple, which means it was once returned to them, and was brought back to its "as new" condition, and my experience with Apple is that a refurbished iPod is indeed impossible to tell from a new version.

The refurbished Apple 8GB iPod touch comes with the same one year warranty as their new players, and in the box you will find the player, a pair of headphones, a USB cable, a users guide and a stand (which is just a small piece of plastic).

If 8GB is not enough for you, you'll also be able to find the 16GB and 32GB versions in the store for a substantial discount.

You can find the refurbished Apple iPod Touch here, shipping is free, and you can pay using all major credit cards. Apple has to charge sales tax in most states where they have a retail store, so your total price will be around $210.

Daily deal - Sabrent pocket USB HDTV tuner

My deal for today is for the Sabrent pocket USB HDTV tuner. This tiny USB key contains a full HD tuner, and allows your laptop (or desktop) to pick up the signal from any local TV station, (analogue or digital). The digital signal compatibility ensures your device will still work after the big switch being made in February of next year.

With this device, you'll be able to plug in the included mini antenna, and watch TV on your computer. Software is included for recording TV shows, and there is support for an electronic TV guide. If you have ever been stuck in a hotel with a 20" wood grain TV, and nothing more than 4 channels of local farming information, then this device might be able to keep you entertained for a while.

The Sabrent pocket USB HDTV tuner is on sale for just $39.99, shipping is about $7 and tax is collected in IL, FL, TX and NC.

The package contains the USB tuner, a mini HD capable antenna and a credit-card size remote control. The included software works on Windows XP and Vista, sorry; no Mac support.

Daily deal - refurbished Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS unit $79.99 after rebate

My daily deal of the day for today is the Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS unit. Despite the insanely low price, this is actually a good solid device with pretty decent reviews.

You get 750,000 points of interest stored in the unit, maps of North America, turn by turn spoken directions and 3D maps. The Maestro 3100 has a 3.5" anti-glare display and automatically adjusts for night or day colors.

Included in the box is the unit itself, a windshield mount, car charger cord, USB data cable and an adhesive disk (for mounting the unit on your dashboard).

To get the low price, you need to submit a $20 rebate, and be aware that you are purchasing a refurbished unit. Refurbished means that it was once sent back to Magellan, where it was returned to its "as new" condition. You still get the full 12 months manufacturers warranty, so there is very little risk involved.

The refurbished Magellan 3100 is $99.99 "out the door", and shipping is free. To purchase this unit, head on over to Radioshack.com or Amazon.com. The rebate is valid on purchases made until August 31st.

Daily deal - High Sierra travel luggage 50% off from Amazon

My daily deal for today is a nice clearance on High Sierra travel luggage.

Included in the sale are all kinds of bags; backpacks, waist bags, messenger bags and even a rigid frame backpack.

Most of the bags come with very good reviews and the main advantage is that the bags are very light which is a "must have" for anyone who likes to travel without the weight of a heavy bag pushing down on them.

When you find a bag you like, you'll notice that the price depends on the color you select. Some bags double in price when you select a more popular color, so if you want the lowest price, you may have to settle for a color you don't like.

The bags ship for free with Amazon Super Saver Shipping when your order is over $25. You can find the entire selection of High Sierra clearance products here.
